Dates!!!!!!
We'd love to see you at a show soon!!!!
In
the meantime.....
What we have been up to over May and early June
2011.....
USA What a fantastic time we had away in the US for 5 weeks!!!
Absolutely awesome!!!! From landing at LA and getting our hire car
(Toyota Corolla) we then travelled via I. 10 through Tombstone, Tucson
(bought a 1918 Gibson mandolin, Gibson J45, and a white US Telecaster),
then Sierra Vista (played at the Dragoon Saloon, Tombstone, and the
Am Veterans Assoc. Sierra Vista) on to San Antonio (The Alamo), Austin
(bought a Fender Precision Bass and Jim bought a US Telecaster), we
then went via New Orleans (French Quarter - Bourbon St), to Meridian,
(Jimmie Rodgers Grave), Montgomery (Hank Williams grave and Museum),
then via some of the "Lost Highway" onto the Smoky Mountains
and the Clinch Mountains, (in Virginia) played at the Carter Family
Fold concert—Awesome!!! saw the Carter family graves, the St
Vernon Church, Bristol Museum, Then back to the Smoky Mountains, played
at the Pigeon Forge Smith Brothers Theater (what an awesome show they
had there). We bought a video of the show they sell to the audience
they make of the show every night and WE were on it!!!! What a thrill!!!!
We then headed over to Nashville and saw Johnny Cash's grave, and
June Carters, Joe Maphis, etc...The CM Museum in Nashville is amazing!!!
We also did an interview over Radio NBRN.FM which was broadcast world-wide
and we got calls from listeners in England and Ireland, and across
the US. The highlight of Nashville however, was to meet up with Johnny
Cash's guitarist, Bob Wootton, and wife, Vicky.
We then headed to Memphis and saw the sights there, Beale St, Sun
Records, Stax Studios, including Elvis's Graceland. We then took the
Blues Highway 61 south to Tunica (just got missed by a Tornado that
night!!!!), then continued on to Clarksdale Miss. and saw all the
Blues venues, that still come alive when they have their annual festivals.
We saw the Blues Museum there...what a fantastic place!!! We then
continued on to Lubbock Tx. and saw Buddy Holley's grave and Museum.
Buddy Holly's (Holley’s) Strat. and pick are there!!
Then onto the Grand Canyon (Awesome!!!) then via Route 66 to Williams,
etc (Excellent!!!!) We then continued on to Las Vegas (Fantastic experience!!)
Then up to the Death Valley (Absolutely awesome!!!) then via Bakersfield
to San Francisco. Then we headed down to LA. Went to the Autry National
Centre (this is not Gene Autry's personal museum, I understand that
is in Oklahoma) but it is a collection of all the old west that Gene
Autry had and it is EXCELLENT!!!
We then left for home from LA. Now that is just a VERY brief outline
of where we went and what we saw and experienced. It was just awesome!!!!!
Overall we drove 7,700 miles (or around 13,000 ks) The Toyota Corolla
didn't miss a beat and it was packed pretty well with all the instruments
and general cargo!!!!! - and us!!!!!
