LATEST
NEWS
Hello
everyone!
What a terrific time we have had since
the Tamworth Festival!!
Been absolutely flat out!! Thank goodness
for wireless internet and mobile phones
to help us keep track of everything whilst
on the road!!
Through March/April Peter, Lynette, Mum
(Margaret) and myself toured around through
SA. We had some top shows and our thanks
to all those who supported our shows —
so much appreciated!!!
In May we headed up to Queensland briefly
and had some wonderful shows at Kilcoy,
and Bundaberg after stopping in at Caboolture
for three days at the Urban Country Music
Festival. The bush ballad part of the
festival was held at the Historical Village
at the classic Stanmore Hall (fantastic
acoustics!). We had three awesome days
performing our own sets and backing and
catching up with other artists. Our thanks
to the Festival organisers Colleen and
Committee for having us.
Our next port of call was the Barham Bush
Ballad festival. This was our second year
at the festival. The event is definitely
becoming very popular, with great crowds
to play to every day. Lynette, Jim and
I were the backing band for the main stage
over the three days, as well as doing
our own spots. We had a great time…
particularly at the Finale evening…
which gets wilder every year!!! Excellent!!
Love it!!
Particular mention to Gwen Connor who
minded our stock at the Barham stock table
over the weekend. Thanks Gwen!!!
Next, we stopped in for Morning Melodies
on the Monday at Swan Hill, what a fun
morning/afternoon!
We then landed at Barmera, for three shows
at the Berri Club. The Festival didn’t
really start until the Monday, but we
were very pleased with the early festival
crowd and support for the three completely
different variety shows we had on offer.
Thanks so much everyone!!!
We hit Broken Hill for two nights at the
Demo Club. This is always a great venue
and there were lots of visitors in town
over the long weekend. We also had the
deadly talents of Broken Hill local Ben
Harris on drums—total legend!!
In July we head into Queensland again.
Along the way we stop in at Springwood
Bowls, Bundaberg Burnett Bowls, Rockhampton
QRI Hall and other many other venues.
The shows feature Peter, Lynette and myself
performing a selection of originals and
ballads etc. Jim Hermel with his rockin
country style and Margaret Coad on ol’
time piano will be joining us on the tour
therefore presenting a variety show!
Check out the gig guide for the
dates near you!!
Jim Hermel will also be holding some of
his own shows along the way - watch out
for ‘Jim Hermel & The Hot Chix’
posters for some fun dance events!
MILDURA FESTIVAL
The next festival coming up for us is
Mildura. This is the first time we have
been available to play at the festival
for many years. We shall be performing
between the (Monday 28th Sept—
Thursday 1st Oct) check the http://www.milduracountrymusic.com.au
website for daily programs. We would
love to catch up with you!!!
RECORDING UPDATE!
Jim, Lynette and I have finished putting
together a Gospel/Bluegrass concept album,
which we hope (if we get the time!!) to
release by September (fingers crossed).
This album will feature our ‘banjo
section’ and ‘gospel bracket’
as well as many of the classic gospel
songs and bluegrass instrumentals, plus
a few new originals. The band name we
will release the album under will be ‘Runaway
Dixie’.

NEW ALBUM UNDERWAY IN OCTOBER
In October we will commence recording
a new Peter Coad and The Coad Sisters
album featuring new material
from Peter, Lynette and myself.
In the meantime, travel safe, have fun,
and we look forward to seeing you soon!!!
Check out our web pages for regular news/tour
updates!
Special
note: Our thoughts are with Shirley
Elvery of Alstonville who recently suffered
a stroke :(
Gordon and Shirley are both lovely people
and great supporters of country music
and bush ballad events.
On behalf of Peter, Lynette, Jim, Mum
and myself we hope you will be feeling
better soon Shirley. :)

PETER'S ALBUM GOING WELL
Peter Coad's current album "Outback
Chapters" has seen great success
since it's release last year, with approx
nine finalists and one winner!
"The album has been by far my most
successful to date. I was really thrilled
to attain an award at the Gidgee Coal
awards last November with my own song
"I heard a Hillbilly Song",
which was a tribute to Shorty Ranger OAM.
Shorty heard the song some time before
he passed away and was thrilled with it,
and we could not have been happier than
to pick up and award for it".
Peter's
latest single from the album is "It's
A Poor Sort Of Man Who Won't Help his
Neighbour" which was released
on NFS 120 this year.
"I thank all the people who have
supported our shows, and the radio presenters
who have promoted our music. It has been
terrific".
Peter is a finalist in the 2008 Katherine
Country Music Awards with his song "Banjo
and Henry" in the Bush Ballad Section
.
COAD SISTERS - SINGLE SUCCESS
Following up the release of their single
"Goodnight Shaney/Silver City
Blues" in December, the Coad
Sisters will be embarking on a brief tour
of SA with Peter Coad throughout March/early
April.
"The track "Goodnight Shaney"
has been very successful for us, with
lots of positive response." Virginia
said, "We hope the song will feature
on stations around the country during
the ANZAC WEEKEND. It is a very
poignant and current subject embracing
loss of loved ones in combat."
INTERNATIONAL AIRPLAY
Internationally we have picked up terrific
airplay in Europe and in USA with the
single "Goodnight Shaney"
and we are hoping to build on the support
with the album release later this year,"
Virginia said. "Once again we thank
all the presenters who are playing it
- We appreciate your support!
(See Youtube link above)
Their new album is due out soon. This
will be the first Coad Sisters album for
some years as they have mainly combined
tracks with Peter Coad on the last couple
of releases as "Peter Coad And The
Coad Sisters".
"We are really excited about the
new album, and we hope to have it available
soon. We welcome interviews on the Single.
Our thanks to all who have played the
single around Australia...it is much appreciated!"
