The 2007 Bush Balladeer Star Quest was held
at the
Tamworth West Diggers Club (Kable Avenue)
on Tuesday the 23rd January 2007 at 1pm.
This prestigious event featured some of Australia's premier Bush Ballad
artists competing for the 2007 Star Quest
winner's title.

BAIN - 2007 WINNER!
Greg Bain of North Rothbury New South
Wales took out the 2007 A.B.B.A. Bush Balladeer
Star Quest which was held at Tamworth West
Diggers Club on the 23rd of January, from an
excellent line up of bush ballad talent.
Greg will be recording a single as part of his
win and appearing at many festivals over the
next twelve months. As the Bush Balladeer Star
Quest winner 2007, Greg now has a A.B.B.A.

DEBBIE
BECKETT (WA) GRAND FINALIST
Debbie’s career started in the eighties with a
band called Kaleidscope.
In 1986 Debbie was a finalist in the Tamworth
Starmaker Quest.
After moving to Sydney in 1995, Debbie wrote
“Crazy for Patsy” a tribute to the music of
Patsy Cline, the show was a great success on the
NSW club circuit.
Debbie released her first CD ‘Such Is Life” in
February at the Boyup Brook Country Music
Festival. At present she is working with Terry
Bennetts on her second CD. Debbie is emerging as
a fine balladeer presenting mixture of
contemporary and traditional ballads. |

ANN
LEUBA (WA) FINALIST
Ann Leuba hails from WA and started her singing
career in musical theatre at the age of 21. Ann
recorded her first album ‘Easy On The Senses”.
This was the first Country Music LP recorded in
WA
In 1994 she released her CD “The Wonders Of a
Mothers Love” a dedication to Motherhood. Her
songs have been recorded by Reg Poole, Brian
Young, and Norma Kelly. She also has an album
entitled ‘The Complete Wedding album’.
Her most recent success was to have two of her
songs accepted to be on a compilation Album, by
Selection Records to be released in 2007.

JOHN
PARKER (NSW) GRAND FINALIST
John Parker didn’t start playing guitar until he
was about 25, but soon worked out that
Australiana music was his thing. He won Poley
Everett’s talent quest in 2000, the Newcastle
Country Songwriting Competition at Steel City,
and the TSA Amateur National Songwriting Quest
quite a few times.
John and his wife and family are looking to
travel around the country more and be part of
the balladeer festivals.

CHRIS STROHFELD (QLD)
FINALIST
Born 18th February 1970, raised on a dairy and
cattle property at Ravensborne Qld, Chris has
always been a big fan of country music.
He has been writing and singing his own songs
since he was fifteen.
Chris has a great love of Stan Coster’s work and
was a Grand Finalist in The A.B.B.A. Bush
Balladeer Star Quest 2006. He has also released
an album with much acclaim, and a single
included on the Balladeers Album Vol 7, and Vol
8.
Chris is young man with great determination for
a future in bush ballads.

RACHEL RICHARDS (Qld) GRAND FINALIST
31 year old Rachel Richards drives a crane for a
living, has a 3 month old baby son, and is a
vibrant songwriter and performer. She loves bush
ballads and her own compositions reflect her
honest appreciation of the characters and
experiences in her life. Originally from Mt
Gambier SA, she now resides in Queensland.
She has competed in quite a few songwriting
compositions with some award winning results.
She is very dedicated to making a career for
herself in bush ballads. |
