NATHAN CHARLTON
Bush
Balladeer Star Quest Winner 2002
A
YOUNG MAN GOING PLACES
Having grown up listening to the likes of SLIM DUSTY, WILF CARTER,
BUDDY WILLIAMS, GORDON PARSONS and many others, this young man shows
a big talent beyond his years.
Nathan’s latest album What I’m All About, released in
late 2004 on the new Gold Coast based Kross Kut Records label owned
by LINDSAY WADDINGTON, shows his great balladeer style of singing.
The album was recorded at the new LBS Studios in Tamworth.
This second album has seen Nathan choosing a great selection of songs
from some notable songwriters including We Were Millionaires (LINDSAY
HAMMOND), Things Are Not The Same On The Land (BILL CHAMBERS), Saddle
Old Darky (JOY MCKEAN), That Dappled Grey Bronco Of Mine (BUDDY WILLIAMS),.
And two from the master STAN COSTER - Wealth Made Us Poor and I Wouldn’t
Be Dead For Quids.
These songs together with the other tracks make it an album you will
want to have in your collection. Nathan has recorded these songs in
his own unique style and this release will see this young man picking
up a huge fan base in the coming years.
Nathan’s first album Sounds Of The Bush was recorded in 2003
with NEV MOLLOY at his studios at Broken Hill.
Nathan first realisation of a possible future in our country music
industry came after winning the Bush Balladeers Star Quest in January
2002. Prior to this win, on Nathan’s previous trips to Tamworth,
he had done some busking on the streets and had been surprised at
the numbers of people who would gather around to listen to him.
A part of Nathan’s prize in winning the ABBA Star Quest in 2002,
was the release of a radio single. The song, Tex Buddy And Slim, written
by KEITH JAMIESON and recorded at LBS Studios, was released to radio
in June 2002 and received nationwide airplay.
In 2003 other significant achievements followed Nathan’s 2002
Star Quest win. He won the Senior Invitation Section of the NSW &
ACT Champions Showcase in 2003, the Gordon Parsons Memorial Award
for Australian Bush Balladeer of 2003, and was a Toyota Star Maker
grand finalist.
Nathan was invited to sing on JOY MCKEAN’s Tribute Writers Show
at Tamworth in 2003, also doing a short tour with ANNE KIRKPATRICK
in the same year. He was also invited to perform on the Tribute Concert
for Slim Dusty.
